People usually assume that it’s a straight forward, a few forms to complete, attach the needed documents and VOILA!

However, because of their enthusiasm they usually forget some minor things that could lead to big problems, application delays and sometimes rejection.

Here is a list of things you have to focus on in order to prepare your application the right way:

  1. TIME, apply early, time is critical and successful applications are the ones that are submitted early as soon as the Immigration office announce the list of Jobs, it is important to be ready a head of time with all your documents.
  2. CHECKLIST, follow the checklist provided by the government websites, however make sure the list is not only a generic one, double check online and with immigration professionals if there is nothing missing.
  3. FORMS, make sure you submit your forms on time and do not wait until they are outdated. Double-check if you have the right forms, applicants sometime are misguided and submit forms for a different type of immigration they are applying to.
  4. PHOTOS, follow the Canadian photo requirement for your immigration office, do not send old photos you have at home.
  5. TRANSLATION, attach the original document and the affidavit of the translator to your translated documents.
  6. TEST, make sure you take the right tests and submit the right results, inform yourself on the test centers and the proper test to take beforehand.
  7. NOC, try always to match your job to the proper Canadian code before filling your application, do not go with your emotions and choose a code you feel good with.
  8. FEES, send the proper amount corresponding to each application type using the correct method specified by the right immigration authority.
  9. POLICE CERTIFICATE, police clearance is an important document however it is only needed at later stages of the application process, if not asked don’t send it.
  10. REPRESENTATIVE, choose carefully your representative, not any lawyer or any person can submit your application, She/he should be certified to do so (ask about their license)
  11. SIGNATURE, carefully review your application and make sure you sign in all the required spaces, do not forget to make the accompanying applicant sign as well where needed, do not send your application unsigned.

Hopefully this gave you an insight about what to pay attention too during your immigration process. Plan well and always review your application.
